This spectacularly photogenic trek on the
southern side of the Himalayas is the approach route for
the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre base camps. The trail passes
through the cultivated fields, Gurung villages, temperate
rhododendron forests, and into alpine tundra. The early
morning view of the Annapurna range from atop Poon Hill
is unparalleled by any places accessible by roads. The top
point on the trek is 4200 m, making it ideal for people
wishing to avoid high altitudes.
Day 01 : Arrive Kathmandu (1310 m)
Day 02 : Drive to Pokhara (820 m),
a lake side city.
Day 03 : Hike to Pothana (1890 m),
mainly uphill trail passes through an evergreen forest and
the village of Dhampus. Nice views of Pokhara City. Fewa
Lake can be seen from the hilltop.
Day 04 : Pothana to Landrung (1640
m), crossing the ridge of Deurali (2200 m). Photogenic views
of the rhododendron forests, Himalayas, Modi Khola valley
and Pokhara city.
Day 05 : Hike to Chomrong (2170 m)
crossing new bridge over Modi Khola and ascending about
Day 06 : Chomrong to Himalaya Hotel
(2870 m), trail passes the avalanche in narrow Modi Khola
Day 07 : Hike up to Machhapuchhre base
camp (3700 m) passing the landslide and avalanche chutes.
Day 08 : Meet the last destination
Annapurna base camp and explore the area of glacial valleys.
Day 09-10 : Hike back to Chomrong.
Day 11 : Chomrong to Tadapani (2590
m), hiking along this trail is non-stop views of the Machhapuchhre
(Fishtail 6993m), Hiuchuli and Annapurna south.
Day 12 : Hike to Ghodepani (3000 m)
with spectacular view of the Himalayas passing through the
Day 13 : Early trip to Poon Hill (beautiful
mound in the red rhododendron forest) for the best view
of the Himalayas like Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Annapurna (8091
m), Nilgiri Hills, Fishtail (6993 m) very closely with sunrise
scene, hike back to Ghodepani and then hike down to Tikhedhunga
Day 14 : Hike down to Nayapul and drive
back to Pokhara.
Day 15 : Drive back to Kathmandu.
Day 16 : Sightseeing and shopping in Kathmandu.
Day 17 : Fly back home.
